Asylum procedure
By applying for asylum in Belgium, you are requesting to stay on Belgian territory because your life is threatened in your country of origin.
What are the main steps of the asylum procedure?
You submit your application for protection with the Immigration Office. The Immigration Office will check whether Belgium is the competent country to process your application.
Your application is then forwarded to the Commissioner-General for Refugees and Stateless Persons (CGRS/CGVS/CGRA), an independent organisation that will interview you and take a decision.
If you do not agree with the decision of the CGRS, you can appeal against it at the Council of Alien Law Litigation (CALL/RvV/CCE).
