Different religions
In Belgium, there are various religions and ideologies. The largest religion is Christianity. There are also many people who are not religious.
Religions
In Belgium, everyone is free to practise their faith. As such, there are many different religions.
The following religious worship is officially recognised:
- Roman Catholic worship
- Orthodox worship
- Anglican worship
- Protestant worship
- Muslim worship
- Jewish worship
Holidays
As the Catholic Church was very important in the history of Belgium, we still have many Catholic holidays, including Easter and Christmas. Most shops and schools are closed on these holidays. Many people also do not have to work on a holiday.
Other religions also celebrate in Belgium, but then most shops remain open and people have to work and children go to school.
