Where can you smoke?

In Belgium, you are not allowed to smoke in public buildings, at work, in cafés and in the reception centre. You can however smoke on the street or on terraces.

If you do not comply with the smoking ban, you may be punished and will have to pay a fine. These fines are very high. Throw cigarette butts into waste bins, and not on the street.

Purchasing tobacco or cigarettes

You must be at least 18 years old to purchase tobacco or cigarettes. The seller may ask for your identity documents to check.
